The Tea House is a 20 sqm tiny house designed to evoke a traditional pre-war Japanese tearoom experience. Built by Oregon Cottage Company for a client wanting an authentic space, it features shoji screens, tatami mats (including thicker 2.5-inch mats in the loft), and a sunken tea warming hearth. A space-saving kitchen includes a five-foot counter with a 36"x36" awning window, a two-burner gas range set in a red oak butcher block counter, and black walnut shelving with recessed puck lighting. It's finished with a Japanese soaking tub with stainless steel surround and a Nature’s Head composting toilet.
