Prefab Catalog is an online platform that connects people who want to build a home with modular and prefab house manufacturers. It starts as a clear directory where you can discover real builders, real houses and basic information in one place. Step by step we are adding smarter search and 3D tools so you can explore designs, compare options and even see a house on your own land in augmented reality before anything is built.
Prefab Catalog was born from a very practical problem.
For almost two years I tried to find a prefab house for a small piece of family land near the river in Latvia. On paper there were plenty of manufacturers. In reality it was confusing. Some worked only with export, some had hidden costs, many did not even appear in Google. The best ones I discovered by accident when friends posted their new homes on social media. Finding a builder felt more like luck than a clear process.
In 2022 I gave up on searching and decided to rebuild our old sauna house instead. The roof leaked, the corner logs were rotten and it was easier to start again. My father suggested we use trees from our own forest that had been damaged by bark beetles. We cut the wood ourselves, poured new foundations and built everything from the ground up. He handled most of the physical work, I earned the money for materials. It was hard work and a lot of compromise, but it also made one thing very clear. The problem was not only mine. Friends and relatives were struggling with the same questions. Too many options, no clear way to compare, and no trusted starting point.
Where Two Worlds Meet
I grew up in a farmer family, working with land and wood. Later I moved into IT and have spent years building augmented and virtual reality projects. Prefab Catalog is where these two worlds meet. First it was a simple private list of good modular and prefab manufacturers. Then it became a more structured catalog. Now it is turning into a platform.
The Vision
The first step is a clean directory where people can find real manufacturers with real houses. Next we are adding smarter search, image and filter based discovery and AR visualisations so you can see how a house fits on your land before you build anything.
The Goal
The goal is simple. If you are like I was and just want a home in nature but do not know where to start, Prefab Catalog should be the first page you open. A practical guide built by someone who has carried the logs himself.
